Ashley Todd, the 20-year-old McCain campaigner, who claimed to have been mugged by a black man at an ATM, has recanted her story.

Originally, she wove a colorful tale about a mugger who became infuriated after spying a McCain sticker on her car, and carved a “B” on her face.

The “B” is backward, as if the carver was looking in a mirror, and the cut was not deep enough to merit medical attention. Police, who became suspicious with inconsistencies in the story, cross-examined her with a lie-detector, and apparently the truth emerged.
